Naruto Shippuden: Rise of the Uzumakis
   Part: 1

Chapter 1: The forgotten memories!

Location: Tobi/Madara's Hideout
Event: Final days of the Fourth Shinobi World War

It was late in the evening. The sun was just hours away from setting, and the ground was wet from a storm that had just passed.

A young female ninja was running through the corridors of a large fortress as she desperately tried to find an exit.

She wore the green flak jacket of the Konoha Leaf Ninja. Under it she wore a black, long-sleeved shirt and dark-blue pants.

Her blue hair flowed in the air behind her as she ran faster and faster as a shadowy figure was in pursuit of her. No matter where she ran to, that shadowy figure followed.

Finally, she was able to find a way outside. She stopped for a few seconds to get her bearings as she gazed at the sight in front of her. Off in the distance was an enormous watch-tower, which seemed ready to fall at any second. She stared at it for a few more seconds before noticing an explosion coming from the tower.

"Naruto!" She yelled, before sprinting for the nearby bridge that led to the tower.

But just as she was about to reach the bridge, the shadowy figure landed right in front of her, blocking her passage.

The figure was a man wearing a brown-colored hood and cloak. His face was covered by the shadow of the hood, but his mouth and red-colored chin beard was clearly visible.

The man gritted his teeth as he stared into the girl's pale-lavender eyes. Both of them seemed tired as they both took several breaths of air.

The girl seemed surprised to see this man in front of her as she prepared herself for a fight.

The man started to growl before speaking in a deep, raspy-like voice. "I finally caught up with you! You didn't think you'd lose me that easily, did you, Hyuga-Girl!?"

The girl then gritted her teeth in response to the man's statement.

"I told you... my name is Hinata! Stop calling me 'Hyuga-Girl'!"

The man started to chuckle at Hinata's response.

"Whatever!" yelled the man. "Fact is there's no way I'm letting you across this bridge! My master and your little friend have their own fight, and we have ours! There's no need for us to interfere with my master's business. Let's have it out! You and me! Right here! Right now!"

Hinata stood her ground as she stared at the man's hidden eyes. She had fought this guy before, and every time she did he always won, but for reasons unknown he spared her life. However, with the current situation, it would seem that sparing her life was now out of the question.

There was, however, an up-side to all this. Since she had fought this man before, she knew what to expect; thus giving her a bit of an advantage.

"I have a better idea." Hinata smiled as she slowly reached behind her back to grab something.

The man saw this and was about to attack, when all of a sudden, another explosion came from the tower; causing the man to lose his focus on Hinata. Hinata immediately saw this and quickly threw a smoke bomb at the man's feet.

This quickly caught the man off guard as he started to gag and cough as the smoke entered his lungs.

Hinata quickly used this window of opportunity to jump over the man and began sprinting across the very long bridge.

The man quickly recovered from the smoke bomb and continued to chase after Hinata.

"That little bitch!" growled the man. "You don't run from me! You can't run from me!"

They were only ¼ ways across the bridge before the man threw an explosive kunai knife at Hinata.

Hinata didn't have to dodge it as the knife already whizzed by her face and landed just a couple of feet in front of her. She quickly stopped in her tracks and dove away from the knife just before it exploded.

As Hinata picked herself up, she quickly looked up to see the man about pounce on her with a devastating blow. She quickly got out of the way as the man slammed his fist into the bridge, making a huge crack on the stone floor, but he quickly continued his attack as both he and Hinata exchange several blows to each other's bodies. Unfortunately, the man was a much more experienced fighter and was able to land multiple blows to Hinata's face and body. Gaining the advantage, the man spun around and hit Hinata with a tremendous kick to the stomach, thus sending her flying back a few yards away from him.

Hinata coughed up a few drops of blood before slowly getting back to her feet. Once up, she took the traditional Hyuga fighting stance and activated her Byakugan to better defend herself from the man.

The man saw this and began to laugh. "You fool! You really want to continue this silly game? You and I both know that you're no match for me! Especially since you're coming at me with such an inferior Byakugan!"

"So what if I am!? I will never run away! I never go back on my word! Because that's my nindo! My ninja way!"

"Pfft! 'Ninja way!' How ridiculous! You think that such a little saying like that is going to give you the confidence you need to beat me!? You fool!"

The man then took his own fighting stance as he began to concentrate his chakra into his arms. It wasn't long until both of his arms were completely engulfed in chakra that took the form of giant tiger claws. As the man lifted his head to face Hinata, his eyes were suddenly glowing a greenish hew. They resembled that of a Byakugan except they had a four-point star, darker in color, that appeared directly in the center of his eyes.

Hinata has witnessed these eyes before and know how they work. These were the infamous Awakened Byakugan eyes. It is a stage in the Byakugan dojutsu that increases the user's power and strength by 50%. Unfortunately for Hinata she has yet to reach this stage with hers. However, that didn't stop her from taking a different fighting stance. She quickly thrusts her arms down to her sides as she squeezed her hands into fists. It didn't take long until her arms also began to be engulfed in her own chakra. Except, this time the chakra took the form of two lion heads.

"So, it's gonna be like that, huh?" smiled the man. "Your Lion Fists against my Tiger Claws? Ha, this ought to be fun."

"Say whatever you want, but I will get across this bridge whether you like it or not!" yelled Hinata.

"We'll see about that!"

And with that said, both Hinata and the man rushed at each other at top speed. It only took a split second before both of their attacks made contact and sent out a huge shockwave that shook the entire bridge and created a big cloud of dust around the two fighters.

Once the dust settled both Hinata and the man were trying to push the other back with their chakra attacks. Hinata was using every ounce of her strength to try and push the man away, but his Awakened Byakugan prevented that by increasing his strength.

The man used his Tiger Claws to grab Hinata's Lion Fists and pulled her towards him. He then leaned forward and bashed his head directly into Hinata's, throwing her off balance. The man then let go of her Lion Fists and started to slash his Tiger Claws at her, but Hinata quickly recovered from the head-butt and started to dodge the man's attacks. She was even able to parry many of the man's attacks with her Lion Fists.

The two continued this for only a few more seconds before the man was actually able to gain more distance away from Hinata. Only this time, he was the one closer to the other side of the bridge instead of her. Having seen this, the man started to laugh.

"Well, it would appear that I'm the one closer to the tower now."

"Yeah, so what?" asked Hinata.

"I was just thinking, even though my master is currently busy beating your friend into a pulp, I guess he wouldn't mind if I got a piece of that action."

Suddenly, Hinata's expression turned to shock. "You wouldn't!"

"I would! And we both know that I'm the faster one here, so why don't you just run along and leave the fighting to the grownups?"

Suddenly, the man whipped out his own smoke bomb and slammed it into the ground, causing a cloud of smoke to cover his escape.

"No!" yelled Hinata as she chased after him. She did her best to run as fast as she could, but her injuries restricted her speed. The man was gaining more ground with every second. She had to think of something and fast. Then she got an idea. Hinata extended out her palm and concentrated her chakra into her hand.

She then took aim at the man and yelled, "Gentle Fist, Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm!" Just then, a burst of chakra shot out from her hand and flew straight at the man before hitting him in his left shoulder.

The impact caused the man to fall forward towards the edge of the bridge. He was just seconds from falling off the bridge and into the canyon bellow, but he acted fast and was able to grab hold of the edge of the bridge just in time.

"Yes! It worked!" cheered Hinata, as she continued to sprint across the bridge.

The man was holding on to the bridge for dear life. He slowly, but surely, started to climb back up, but not before seeing Hinata race right by him.

"You little bitch!" yelled the man as he desperately tried to get back on the bridge.

Hinata didn't bother to look back at him. She was too busy trying to cross the bridge. Her dearest friend was in trouble, and she wasn't going stop for anything to get to him.

It only took a few seconds for the man to get back on the bridge, but as he watched Hinata getting closer to the end of the bridge, he knew that he couldn't catch up to her, even if he tried. But that didn't stop him.

"That sneaky, little, brat! How dare she make a mockery of me! If I can't get across this bridge, then no one can!" Suddenly, the man raised his right arm into the air as he formed another Tiger Claw attack. Then, with all his might, slammed the Tiger Claw attack down at the bridge; creating an explosion that caused the bridge to shatter and fall apart.

Unfortunately, for the man, he caused himself to fall off the bridge and into the canyon bellow. But as he fell, he watched as the shattered pieces of the bridge got closer and closer to Hinata.

Hinata could now see the end of the bridge, but she suddenly took notice that bridge began to shake violently. That's when she saw the massive cracks appear around her feet and heard the sounds of crunching rubble behind her. She then noticed that the bridge began to break apart right under her feet. Hinata had to resort to leaping from piece to piece in order to keep herself from falling. But with each step she took, her distance to canyon bellow got closer and closer, and yet she was so close to the other end of the bridge.

She finally caught eye of a large piece of rubble that was really close to the edge of the canyon. She leapt and landed on it perfectly, but she had to act fast if she was going to make it to the other side. Using every ounce of her strength, she jumped off the piece of rubble and extended her hand out to the canyon's edge. Her fingers just barely touched the edge, but not enough to get a good grip of it. Luckily she was able to find a hole in the canyon's wall big enough for her other hand to grab on to.

Now she was left hanging on to that hole in the wall by one hand. She hung there and watched the rest of the bridge fall into the canyon as it made several crashing sounds that echoed off the walls of the canyon.

Using her chakra, Hinata was able to get a better grip of the canyon wall as she started to climb up it. It wasn't long before she finally reached the top and rolled on her back to catch her breath.

'That was a close one. I can't believe that guy would just sacrifice himself just to keep me from reaching Naruto.' Hinata thought to herself. 'Was he really that hell bent on keeping his master safe? Oh well. It doesn't matter now. I'm alive, he's not. Right now
I've got to get to Naruto before something bad happens to him!'

Hinata then got up and saw that a vast forest was all the kept her from getting to the tower. She was about to begin running through it, but the sound and sight of the tower beginning to collapse quickly took her breath away.

"No, Naruto!" she cried out.

'I've got to hurry. Hopefully I'm not too late!' she thought as she quickly made her way through the forest.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the canyon, the debris and rubble of the now destroyed bridge covered a large area of the canyon floor.

Everything seemed quiet, but not before the sounds of muffled punches could be heard from underneath the rubble. As the punches got louder, the rubble started to shake and vibrate with each punch. It wasn't long until a fist suddenly popped out from the rubble, followed by the battered and bruised body of the hooded man. Only this time, his hood was removed to reveal that this man had red, spiky hair, sharp green eyes, that didn't bear the Byakugan this time, and his face, although bruised, was strong and firm.

The man stumbled around the rubble as he tried to find solid ground. His head let out shouts of pain and anguish as he tried to relieve it by squeezing his head with his hands. But no matter how hard he squeezed his head, the pain just got stronger and stronger. It wasn't long before he fell to his knees and began to shout in pain.

What was happening to him? Why was this happening to him? How can he make it stop? So many things started to race across his mind. He hadn't the slightest idea what has happening to him.

"Argh! What's… happening… to me!?" the man shouted.

Suddenly, images started to race across his mind. He saw a village. A very large village full of people who seemed happy. They all had red hair, like his, and wore clothing that bore a strange symbol. It was a red circle with a black spiral in the center of it. The whole village was covered with these strange symbols. But what did it all mean?

"What… is all this? What are these images appearing in my head?"

The images continued to appear inside the man's head. Images of himself as a child, playing with his friends and family. Then, the images suddenly started to show his village under attack, and his family being slaughtered. Then images of himself appeared, showing him assassinating and killing innocent people for their powers, and sacred scrolls.

So much pain filled up his heart that he started to scream in terror and confusion. But just as quickly as the images came, they suddenly went away, and the man was finally free of this pain.

The man then bent over and used his hands to keep himself from falling by placing them on the ground. His face was covered with sweat as he started to breathe heavily.

"Man, what a rush. Did… did I really do all those terrible things? Did I really kill all those people? What the hell have I become? What the hell am I?" The man began to look at his hands as he watched them tremble. "Who… who am I? What is my name? What… is… my name?"

He then closed his eyes as he began to think. And as he sat there and thought, he started to hear a name over and over again. Each time he heard this name, a feeling of comfort washed over him.

"Draiko."

"Draiko."

"Draiko."

The voices in his head kept repeating that name.

"Draiko!"

"Draiko!"

"Draiko!!"

The man started to grit his teeth as he continued thinking and thinking. Hearing these voices repeat this name over and over again.

"Draiko… That is my name…"

Suddenly, the sound of the tower collapsing could be heard from the top of the canyon. This quickly broke Draiko's concentration as he looked up at where the sound had come from. He could then sense the presence of a dark power nearby him.

"Madara! I remember now! I remember! He's the one who did this! He's the one who turned me into this… thing! He's the one who killed my family, my clan, and destroyed my village!! That monster! And he brainwashed me into doing his dirty work!! That bastard! I'll kill him!!"

Draiko, now filled with rage and anger started to perform a few hand signs. "Okay, Madara. Let's see how well you do in a fight against one of your damned experiments!"

Draiko finished his hand signs by punching both his fist together before shouting out, "Ninja Art: Nature Transformation Jutsu!" Suddenly, his body started to transform into a huge pile of leaves as they suddenly started to fly up and out of the canyon.

The leaves flew right over the canyon as they started to make their way over the trees and head to where the fallen tower was.

'So the tower did fall. That kid Madara's fighting must really be giving him a run for his money. I hope Madara hasn't died yet because killing him is my job now!' thought Draiko to himself.

As he continued to sail in the air, something caught his attention. Someone was running through the trees bellow him.

"Hey, it's that Hyuga girl. So she did survive the bridge's collapse. That's good. One less thing to relieve my conscience. But where on earth is she going?"

Draiko followed Hinata's trail and saw that she too was headed for the fallen tower.

"That's right! She said something about helping that kid who was fighting Madara." Draiko began to descend into the trees and transformed back into his human form. He then landed on a branch large enough to support his weight, and watched Hinata from a distance.

"If she gets in the way of my vengeance, she's just going to cause more trouble. Sorry Hyuga girl, but I can't have you interfere with my plans."

Draiko then reached into one of his pouches to pull out an explosive kunai knife. He then took aim and threw the knife in her direction with great strength. But the knife wasn't aimed at her. Instead, it flew up out of the trees and passed her overhead. As the knife continued to gain more distance, Draiko activated the explosive tag on the knife and caused it to explode in mid-air.

Hinata suddenly stopped in her tracks as she turned towards the explosion.

"Another explosion? Then that must be where Naruto and Madara are fighting." said Hinata, as she started make her way towards the fake explosion.

"Excellent!" said Draiko. "She'll soon figure out it was all a trick, but by the time she figures that out I would've already done my business with Madara. Then, my conscience will be clear, and I'll be free once more."

Draiko continued his way towards the collapsed tower as fast as his feet could carry him.

---------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, in the ruins of the collapsed tower, both Naruto and Madara were having an intense standoff. Both were very injured and very tired from their fights. For them, this war was starting to take its toll on both their minds and bodies. But they both knew that this fight would forever determine the fate of the world.

Madara wanted to use the combining powers of the Sharingan, Rinnegan, and the moon to control everyone in the world.

Whereas Naruto was using the best of his power to stop him from doing so.

The two continued to stare at each other as before Madara started to speak.

"My, my, my… You really are quite the fighter, aren't you?"

All Naruto did was smirk at the villain's comment. "You're not too bad yourself. It's been quite a while since I've had myself a decent fight. If only it was against a decent person not hell bent on taking over the world."

"My goal to control this world is the only way wars like this can be avoided! But I don't expect a worm like you to understand!"

"I don't know where you got it in your head that such a plan would prevent war. Look around you! Your stupid idea is what caused this stupid war in the first place!"

"Well, you know what they say, 'No sacrifice, no victory!'"

"Not on my watch!" growled Naruto as both he and Madara took their fighting stances and prepared to continue their fight.

When suddenly a voice came from amongst the surrounding area.

"Master Madara!"

Both Madara and Naruto turned to see Draiko standing with them. Of course to make himself look more presentable for Madara, Draiko already had his hood back on.

"Experiment 297? What are you doing here?" asked Madara, whose mask covered his puzzled expression.

"I saw the tower collapse and I came to see if you were okay. From the looks of things you seemed to have gotten into a bit of a situation."

"Well, obviously, you moron!" barked the aggressive Madara.

Draiko did his best to ignore his master's insult. He then looked at Naruto and saw how beat up he was.

'So this is the brat that's been giving Madara so much trouble. I can see why that girl is so interested in him. He's quite the trooper. Too bad I got to make him watch what I'm about to do.' Draiko thought.

"Is this the brat that's been giving you so much trouble, sir?" asked Draiko.

"Yes." replied Madara. "He's been quite the nuisance, but with you here it shouldn't be too much trouble killing him. He and I are almost depleted of chakra, which means it should be easy for you to finish him off, correct?"

"You're almost out of chakra?" asked Draiko with what sounded like a pleased tone of voice. "Well, that's just perfect."

Draiko slowly made his way next to Madara while still facing Naruto.

"I know. Tell me about it." Madara replied, thinking Draiko was being sarcastic.

"Well, don't you worry Master. This should be over quickly." said Draiko as he reached behind his back to unsheathe the sword on his back. He then took a fighting stance and readied himself for his attack.

Naruto prepared himself for an intense fight as he held his ground, ready to take on Draiko.

"Do it now, 297! Finish him off!" yelled the agitated Madara.

"Yes, sir!" growled Draiko as he looked like he was about to lunge at Naruto, but in that last second swung his sword with lightning speed at Madara. His timing was perfect as his sword sliced right through Madara's left arm and making a huge gash in his abdomen.

The force of the impact turned Madara's body to the left as Draiko then plunged his sword directly in his stomach. Since Madara was caught off guard, he didn't make the sword phase through his body like he would with other attacks.

The sudden betrayal shocked both Madara and Naruto. Madara couldn't believe what just happened. One of his most trusted assassins has just betrayed him, but why?

"Wha… What devilry is this? 297, what are you doing?" choked Madara as blood started to
drip from the bottom his mask.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm trying to kill you, you bastard!" screamed the angry Draiko.

"But… but why? Why!?"

"You really don't know, do you? Have you already forgotten how much pain you've caused me!? Have you forgotten what you did to my family!?"

"What!?"

Suddenly Draiko removed the sword and pushed Madara onto the ground. Madara fell with a huge thud as his body hit the debris of the crumbled watch tower. He then started letting out several grunts and groans from the wounds he's sustained.

Draiko slowly walked towards Madara, sword pointed at him so as to keep him down.

"For years I've done nothing but do your dirty work. You had me kill hundreds of innocent people. You turned me into the monster I am today. And now… I'm gonna to put your rule to an end!"

"What… the hell are you talking about, 297? You've always… delighted in serving me! You… you took any order… I gave you… without question. You've always… enjoyed killing others. Now here you are… playing hero. What happened to you?"

"I remembered… I remembered everything! You killed my family!"

Suddenly, Madara's eyes widened once he heard Draiko's last statement. At first he was frightened, but he suddenly started to laugh.

"And now you wish to kill me so as to atone for all the sins I made you do, huh?"

Draiko nodded. "That's right…"

"Well, go ahead and try to kill me! Now that I know you're not on my side, any attack you do to me, I just make it phase right through my bod- AAAaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!" Madara was abruptly interrupted when a Tiger Claw attack plowed right through his chest from his back. Madara let out a blood-curdling scream as gallons of blood spewed from his body.

Madara was shocked to death. Where did this come from? Suddenly, he saw that the rubble he was lying on top of started to form into a clone of Draiko, and had his Awakened Byakugan activated.

"That's right. A clone." Laughed Draiko with a sinister grin across his face. "You honestly think I didn't plan this whole thing out? You're a fool to think so. After all, you did teach me everything there is to know about making a perfect assassination."

"Damn… you… 297!" coughed Madara.

Naruto, still watching Draiko's betrayal, was paralyzed with fear. Who was this guy that was easily killing Madara? So many questions raced through his mind as to who this mysterious warrior was. Should he do something?

"Hey, what's going on here?" asked the confused Naruto.

Draiko then turned his attention back at Naruto.

"This is no longer your fight, kid. It's now my duty to finish what he started sixteen years ago! I recommend you be on your way." replied Draiko.

"But why are you-"

"Don't test me, boy! You did your part by making him weak. Fate has now decided that I take his life. You and I both know that with him gone this war will end, and this world will be saved. Now go!"

"But everyone knows that I was fighting him. What do I say to them when they ask-"

"Just tell them that you did it. You won. I have no intention to accept any fame or glory at the moment. Just hurry and leave, before I lose my patience."

Although Draiko was wearing his hood, Naruto could see the seriousness in his eyes. It was a tough decision for him, but Naruto worked up the courage to follow Draiko's order.

"Thank you." Naruto said to Draiko.

"Heh, no problem." Draiko smiled. "Oh, wait!" He called out to Naruto, who stopped to hear what he was about to say.

"Make your way into the forest. One of your friends is out looking for you. If you stay around there, you're bound to run into them."

"Thanks." Naruto smiled as he limped his way into the forest.

Draiko then turned his attention back to Madara, who seemed to fade in and out of consciousness.

"No! You will not die yet! You will listen to what I have to say!" yelled Draiko.

"For sixteen years I laid in your shadow! For sixteen years, I had forgotten who I really was. But now, I know. Now, I remember who I was!"

Madara started to gag and cough up more blood before speaking. "297, don't… do this!"

"No! My name isn't 297! I am not one of your damned experiments anymore!" boasted the angry Draiko as he knelt down and grabbed Madara by his shirt. He then removed his hood to reveal his face to Madara. "MY NAME, IS DRAIKO UZUMAKI!!!" Draiko lifted his other hand to reveal that it too had formed a Tiger Claw attack, and his eyes now turned into the Awakened Byakugan. "AND I WILL HAVE, MY, REVENGE!!!"

Draiko then unleashed his Tiger Claw attack full throttle as he slammed it right in
Madara's face. The sound of the mask breaking could be heard, as well as the sound of bones cracking and blood splashing.

Draiko only slashed Madara on the right side of his face. In doing so, not only did he kill him, but Madara's Sharingan eye was now destroyed, but his Rinnegan still remained in his left eye.

Draiko could only look at the corpse of his former master. It almost felt like it was a dream, but he knew deep down in his heart that this was no dream. He had done it. He finally killed the man that caused him and his clan so much pain and anguish. Draiko fell to his knees as a sigh of relief washed over him.

And as he sat there, next to the dead body, Draiko saw the Rinnegan and knew that the power it possessed could not fall into the wrong hands ever again. At first he wanted to destroy it, but then he remembered that Madara had another Uzumaki that was working for him, Nagato. Nagato had this Rinnegan before his death, and Draiko knew that it rightfully belonged to him. Unfortunately, Nagato was dead.

That's when Draiko made the sudden decision, that he would, from now on, be this Rinnegan's user. He then reached for another kunai knife and began to cut the eye out.

It was soft and bloody but Draiko didn't pay any attention to that. All he did was stare into the lifeless eye as it seemed to stare right back at him.

Draiko didn't have the skills to implant this eye in himself, but he did have one little trick to where he could absorb the eye into his body the same way his Awaken Byakugan was.

Draiko gently squeezed the Rinnegan in his left hand as he began to concentrate his chakra around it. What he was going to do was absorb the eye, and transfer the eye's chakra energy into his own left eye; that way he'll be able to switch it on and off just like his Byakugan.

It only took him a couple of minutes but this technique seemed to be working. He could feel the Rinnegan's chakra flow from his left hand into his left eye. It almost felt like a small stinging sensation, but he could also feel how much power this eye had. It was a sensational amount of chakra entering his body.

He could feel his strength start increase when all of a sudden, his eyes started to go black. Each second that went by, Draiko's vision became darker and darker. He wanted to move, but his body became paralyzed as he fell to the ground and blacked out.
